America is imploding and unraveling
by quantum leaps and bounds. By all accounts we are a society in precipitous decline:
morally, socially and economically and all these facets are interrelated and
interconnected. One of the most telling examples of this decline is the rising
rate of addiction among all ethnic, socio-economic and age demographics.
Addiction is not just relegated to alcohol and
illegal drugs. Americans are addicted to a plethora of substances. For example,
61 million Americans are hooked on cigarettes, 16-20 million are addicted to
alcohol or abuse it regularly, 15 million smoke marijuana, 2.4 million use
cocaine, 600,000 use crack, hundreds of thousands are hooked on heroin, more
than 750,000 are methamphetamine users, 1 million use ecstasy and
hallucinogens, almost 2 million of our children have used steroids, 4.5 million
teens abuse controlled prescription dugs like OxyContin, Ritalin, and Adderall
to get high.

Addiction takes a devastating toll
on the social and economic fabric of the country. It is similar to moths and

Addictions of all types are
destroying this country but this is neither new nor unique to this generation. History
reveals addictions; moral rot, hubris and overreach bring empires to their
knees not external foes! When Europeans arrived on theses shores, they found
millions of indigenous people who introduced them to tobacco. Over the
centuries the nicotine in tobacco became addictive to generations of humanity.
But the Europeans also brought their addiction to imported sugar, raised it
here and exported it back to Europe.
The British brought their addiction
to tea (and caffeine) with them when they invaded this hemisphere. Tea was originally
cultivated in China in ancient times and first introduced to Britain in the
1600’s by the East India Trading Company (aka English East India Company and
later Governor and Company of Merchants of London Trading into the East Indies)
a monopoly trading company that in addition to trading in tea, spices, silk and
cotton, also enslaved Africans mostly from East Africa and Madagascar and they
traded in opium from India.
The East India Company was a
forerunner of today corporations. They attempted to force the Chinese to accept
trade in opium but the Emperor refused. The Europeans set up smuggling rings
that the Chinese attempted to bring to an end. This brought on the Opium Wars
(1839-1842 and 1856-1860) that totally defeated the Chinese (the Europeans has
superior weapons and ships) and busted down the barriers to European “trade” in
China.
The Chinese never forgot their humiliating defeat at the hands of the
Westerners.
The Colonists in the US British
colonies became addicted to the sugar and tobacco grown here, the trading
companies exported overseas as well as the tea the British imported into the
colonies (remember the Boston Tea Party, the false flag operation against England by the
colonists?). Later the British elites made huge profits selling opium around
the world.
Today what we are seeing and
experiencing in the
US
is KARMA. Just as the East India Company smuggled opium and traded addictive
tea, coffee, tobacco and humans around the world (as did other European trading
companies), today the US CIA is a global trafficker in illicit drugs and a

Now that white people are suffering addiction at
increasing rates, it no longer has social stigma. Addiction is no longer
propagated as a moral failing or character flaw requiring incarceration; now it
is seen as a sickness needing medical and therapeutic treatment, empathy and
community support! They didn’t say that when drugs were being dumped in
communities of color, while the police looked the other way and their most
vulnerable residents were being arrested and incarcerated in the bogus War on
Drugs started by Richard Nixon!
Alas even treating addiction (as
opposed to locking people up) which in most cases is merely a symptom, is not a
comprehensive cure. Until the underlying issues and causative factors are
addressed, dealt with and healed, the US addiction crisis will continue
to exist and escalate.

In
George Orwell’s novel 1984 the main protagonist Winston Smith works in an
agency tasked with rewriting and altering history so the ruling party can
control the narrative as it lords it over the masses in their totalitarian
society. Most perceptive people would agree that with each passing day the US becomes more
and more like the dystopian society depicted in Orwell’s 1984.
In the US the corporate mind control
apparatus, six giant conglomerates own and control almost all of the electronic

I call it promulgating the Three B’s:

and to think any other interpretation is the work of “conspiracy theorists”,
rubes or tin foil hat wearers. The media
presents models they want us to emulate, imitate and be like and of course their
advertising arm showers us with lies and manipulates our psyche so we buy
gadgets and gismos we don’t really need.
Just like in 1984, the corporate
media (our real life/real time version of the Ministry of Truth) scrubs
history, programs us to have short attention spans and limited understanding or
recollection of past events all designed to make us malleable to their values,
world view and their agenda of personal and global hegemony. Couple this 27/7
mind control with a failing education system that presents and reinforces a
fake reality and false history and we have a clueless populous. This is
designed to make us mindless pawns and zombies easily manipulated and duped into
doing their bidding and fighting amongst ourselves while the 1%ers remain in
power, harvest us then kick us to the curb.
Step back from the mind control
machine’s bogus narrative about Russiagate and their obsessive focus on Trump’s
personality (which they didn’t do to Hillary, Obama or George W. Bu$h) and look
at the policies of Trump and the 1%’s minions in Congress. They recently enacted
massive cut taxes that even they admit will raise the national debt over a
trillion dollars while simultaneously increasing military spending (the US
already outspends all the world put together on Military funding) further
increasing the national debt! They are
imposing economic sanctions, engaging in currency and trade wars against Syria, Russia,
China, Iran, North Korea,
and Venezuela and now they are
threatening Turkey.

and threatened to do the same against the EU!
Don’t they know trade disputes can
lead to military conflict? The Opium Wars were the result of the West’s reaction

and because the Chinese refused to trade for inferior Western goods opting only
for payment in silver. The British and later the French, British (and US in a
limited role) waged war against and defeated

so they could open

America’s 1940’s policies towards Japan:
seizing their US assets, embargoing oil and other much needed materials,
canceling treaties and trade agreements with a rising industrialized nation
that had few indigenous natural resources that was wholly dependent upon
imports and trade with other nations which put Japan in an untenable position.
Roosevelt’s unwillingness to negotiate with Japan
goaded them into military action; action many scholars believe he deliberately
did hoping Japan would respond
militarily thus giving Roosevelt a rationale
to enter WWII!
We are seeing a repeat of this
today with Trump imposing crippling sanctions against Russian oil, banking and
other facets of its economy, engaging in a tariff tit for tat against China and being
bellicose towards other nations and trade blocks like the European Union. Keep
in mind; this is just on the economic front. Geopolitically the US is
contending with China for access and control of the South China Sea (keep in
mind Modern China like Japan in the 1940’s is heavily reliant on oil imports to
fuel their growing economy), US puppet NATO is encroaching on Russian borders
and the US media’s demonization of Putin and Russia does not bode well for
future relations.
As for as North Korea goes, aside
from the fact both North and South Korea want normalized relations, the North
could easily leverage its trillion dollars in rare minerals and natural

secure military protection and partnerships from China and Russia in its
negotiations with the US.
Here’s another historical fact, when
President Herbert Hoover took office in 1929 he inherited a budget surplus, GDP
was booming but the economy was taking a downturn. He cut taxes even further
(Presidents Harding and Coolidge before him had cut taxes and spending, and
paid down the national debt the only time “supply side economics” has ever
worked in this country) but the economy was still unraveling. In 1929 the Stock
Market crashed and Hoover
and Congress increased tariffs massively in 1930. His tax cuts and tariffs
exacerbated and possibly prolonged the Great Depression!
Will Trump’s tax cuts, tariffs and
trade wars result in an adverse economic consequences or military conflict?
Only time will tell, but if we are ignorant of the past, we put ourselves at a
severe disadvantage.

Spike Lee's Latest Joint

The Latest Spike Lee Joint
A lot of black folks don’t like
Spike Lee’s films because they cover uncomfortable issues and topics they’d
rather keep suppressed from consciousness. This is a grave mistake. Martin
Luther King Jr once said, “Nothing pains some people more than having to think.”
Spike Lee films make you think, that’s for sure.
My wife and I went to see the
latest Spike Lee joint, The BlackkKlansman
. Ironically there were more white folks trying to get tickets than Blacks. The
first theater we went to, I was informed the film was sold out except for the
first two rows in the front where you had to bend your neck to look up at the
screen. Most of the people in line ahead of me asking for tickets to see the
film were white. We returned home and ordered tickets Online at another
theater.
We went to the theater later that afternoon;
there were only a handful of Black folks in the audience. The theater was about half full and most of
the patrons were white.
Spike Lee looks at the world
through the lens of race (and sometimes class) and this film is no different.
It is based upon a true story about a Black man named Ron Stallworth who
secured a job as a policeman in the mostly all white Colorado Springs Police
Department that was looking to diversify the department.
Once hired Stallworth is assigned
to the record room which he finds stifling. He brashly asks the chief for a
transfer to undercover. He is initially turned down. Later the Chief comes to
him with an offer to do plainclothes surveillance when Stokely Carmichael comes
to town to speak at a college event sponsored by the university’s Black Student
Union.
I don’t want to give away the plot
but that assignment leads to another and Stallworth played by John David
Washington (Denzel’s son) offers to go undercover to infiltrate the KKK. His
request on the surface seems preposterous. But he convinces the Chief to let
him do it and being a resourceful dude Stallworth and his crew pull it off.
Lee juxtaposes the real life facts
of Stallworth’s gambit with the racial attitudes of the 1970’s and present day America. Lee’s cinematic
eye captures the blatant racism within the Colorado Springs police department, reveals
the tension the Black students are feeling as they push for “revolutionary
change” in a mostly white environment and observes the Klu Klux Klan’s shift
towards mainstream acceptance by its national leader David Duke.
Officer Stallworth is not woke
politically. He knows he is Black, he has experienced racism personally prior
to and since joining the force, but he is not a radical or a revolutionary. He
is just a guy trying to do his job. He knows how to speak “The King’s English”
and Black lingo too and when a KKK caller to the police station mistakes him
for a white guy, this incident triggers Stallwoth’s idea to infiltrate the
Klan.
Lee captures the tension between Stallworth
and Patrice the head of the Black Students played by Laura Harrier. She calls
police pigs and believes the system is irredeemably corrupt and racist.
Stallworth on the other hand thinks change can be made from the inside. This
disparity in philosophies creates a barrier to their relationship which Stallworth
tries to develop once he meets her at the university rally.
Obviously Stallworth cannot meet
face to face with the Klan members to join them so another police officer named
Flip Zimmerman played by Adam Driver (Kylo Ren of The Force Awakes and Last
Jedi fame) does all the face to face interactions.
To add to the film’s emotional tension, Zimmerman
is a non practicing Jew, who is now forced to grapple with his own heritage and
safety once he joins the hatemongers.
Spike Lee does a masterful job of
chronicling the history of the times, the racial attitudes while providing
enough comic relief so the viewers don’t become overwhelmed by the weightiness
of the subject.
Over the weekend the film did
fairly well. It came in at number five. I recommend you see it because this
film makes a clear statement about not just the past but what is going on in
this country and around the world today.

the past few weeks I’ve shared the deleterious effects of modern technology,
how man made electromagnetic frequencies have clearly observable effects on
